Musings about the world around me, the world I create in my mind, and the world I am escaping to in a game.

Just wanted to know how many people are on, how balanced the gameplay is at the moment, how the matches are flowing, so on and so forth. I will be buying the game Friday no matter what and I can't waitttt to get into the pantheon.

I just want a little heads up from the community if things are doing better now. I have faith in Stardock and GPG, so I am not worried, I just want an idea of what to expect once I get the game. I realize there's been some problems lately with the game, but it doesn't faze me. This game looks amazing despite it's problems, and I think that once the dust settles and word of mouth gets around that the game is fixed, it will become quite the competitive multiplayer game.

Thanks for your time guys, lemme know what's up!

peace

Multiplayer is completely fubar'd right now.  It's a real crap shoot whether you will be able to get into a game.  It starts once you get into the lobby.  You see all these games, but when you click to join, you immediately get a cannot connect error message.  When you do find a game that you can connect to, you spend a good amount of time waiting for a connection to be established between your computer and everyone elses.  If you get past this point, you make it to the in-game lobby.  Here one of two things happens.  First, a couple people have yellow pings so you have to figure out which person has the bad connection and have them reconnect (i.e., go through the first process all over again).  Or, someone has a red zero ping and that person needs to reconnect.  If you get through all of that, you need to launch into the game quickly before the NAT disconnect error pops up.

Once you get into a game, it's a blast.  But spending 45 minutes to get into a game loses its charm pretty quick.  Then you pull out World in Conflict and it's completely painless to get into a game.  The game list browser refreshes quickly.  You can get into every game that says it has space.  And after a short load screen, you are in-game a playing.

Im quoting this because its the closest you can get to the thruth in this thread

The amount of utter bullshit that's involved to get this fucking game working is getting seriously beyond a joke. It's 11pm now and I have managed to get exactly one quarter of a game tonight since I started looking for a game around 8pm. From non-stop yellow ping shit to the game room never filling up due to even more yellow ping shit to this that and everything else, it's just a disgrace. They better get this proxy solution up asap as despite how much i love playing the game, i spend 90% of my night trying to play, 10% actually playing. And yes everything is forwarded correctly, my end works as intended.

Until they fix the multiplayer internally try this:

It's been a real hit and miss affair with me. I only started playing online tonight (after being capped all last week). I managed 4 games with no issues then went and had a break for dinner. I come back and can't get into a single game.

So basically it's about 50:50 for me at the moment, but that ratio is sliding in favour of the "failed connections" rather quickly.

I think once it clears up a lot of the pirates will become legit users. I know myself and at least 3 friends now are playing together via Hamachi waiting to see if/when the internet issues clear up.

I manage to get into a game about half the time i try to connect. My failure rate however is 100%, because everytime I get into a game, I end up with less than 4 (human) players, so I have to disconnect and try again.

This is from Austria,Vienna. And, like most Europeans, I am behind a DSL connection. Let's see what the proxy solution is going to change for me.

if your playing by urself.. 1/3 chance of a game.... worikng.. 1/4 chance that games randomly drops ur or everyone.. and if ur trying to play with a bud.. just play something else..

That gameranger is all good and well but there's like no other aussie players other than pirates.

i was in beta from quite a while back, and never had problems (apart from lag) doing multiplayer, then the game launched and i couldnt connect to anyone at all, it was getting quite miserable so i left it a day or 2 and played single player. done a few tournaments against hards and stuff, came back the next day with exactly the same setup and lo and behold i could connect to people no problem, had virtually no lag (tho in a couple i had NAT issues half way thru the game) and its working fine from my point of view, its a tricksy thing when people are connecting P2P all over the world and there were bound to be teething troubles imo. i seriously cant think of a title that launched 100% smooth, and even tho the multiplayer was busted for a while the game itself is very good (bar one or two balance issues and bugs that slipped the net)

Extremely broken at the moment, connection-wise. The gameplay itself is fun and engaging, and one of "those" games where you can sit and play one large custom game, Pantheon/Skirmish broken up ass, before calling it a night and be totally satisfied.

The only problem is that when you want to play that one 20 minutes game, it takes another 10 to get a decent room and get the game going.

You know you have shitted on your netcode and the backend when pirates who are just trying to connect are bringing down their hive. Fucking atrocious saved by the somewhat balanced and fun times.
